Kandar Alangaram is a collection of divine songs which was written and sung in praise of Lord Murugan by the great Muruga devotee Sri Arunagirinathar. In these beautiful songs, he decorates the body of Lord Muruga with fragrant flowers, golden ornaments and flower garlands. There are more than hundred songs in the Kandar Alangaram text, and it is praised by the ancient Tamil scholars and by the general public.  These songs were composed by Arunagirinathar, after he was saved by Lord Muruga, when he tried to commit suicide in the Tiruvannamalai temple. ..
