INTRODUCTION :
Mankameshwar Temple is located in Agra at Uttar Pradesh, is one of the popular and oldest temples of Lord Shiva. One has to climb some steps to reach the top of the Temple, and the temple is surrounded with full of natural beauty.
The Shiva Linga is self-emanated and it belongs to the previous Dwapara Yuga. This Shiva Linga contains the entire powers of Lord Shiva, and it believed that Lord Krishna and the Pandavas have worshipped this Holy Shiva Linga. The main deity of the temple is Lord Shiva, and there is a separate shrine for Lord Shiva. Devotees must be pure in their heart and they must not think or talk about unnecessary matters inside the temple.
Apart from the main shrine, various other shrines for other deities are also available inside the temple premises like Ganga, Saraswati, Hanuman, Devi, and some of the Vishnu avatars are also found.
Shivarathri festival is grandly celebrated in this temple, and during that day, lot of devotees from Uttar Pradesh would visit this temple in order to have a glimpse of their beloved Lord Shiva. It is also believed that some of the Shaivite kings and the Nayanmar saints had visited this temple and sung in praise of Lord Shiva.
Lord Shiva is considered as the god of the gods and the Lord of the Lords. He is the one who has shown his divine form in front of Lord Vishnu and Lord Brahma, and they themselves couldn’t find his top and bottom. Each and every temple contains certain significance. This Mankameshwar Temple is famous for clearing our sins, and by visiting this temple, we would get great bhakti on Lord Shiva, and we would hence forth divert our attention only on productive matters.
Talking about spiritual matters, chanting of gods names, listening to spiritual discourses, singing in praise of Lord Shiva are all considered as good acts. Similar to that writing and reading about the ancient Shiva temples is also considered as a sacred act.
